London Riots: Update

I promise to blog more soon about what this whole experience has been like, but in the meantime I wanted to upload some photos. These were all taken by my dear friend Louise (thanks, Lou!!). More to come over the next day or two...

I'm starting off with the good. Hundreds of people showed up to clean our neighborhood. It was so moving to see such an amazing community response. People were picking up every last piece of glass and debris. And several kids helped. Seriously amazing. You go, little man!

The Carphone Warehouse window across the street from us

Yes, it makes perfect sense to vandalize a Christian bookstore. Seriously??!!

Starbucks

Another cell phone store on our street. We have lots of cell phone, clothing and electronics stores near us which is probably why our lovely neighborhood was targeted.

Much more to come, but a HUGE thank you to all the people who came out to help with the clean-up efforts. And on a positive note, London was relatively quiet last night with only a few minor scuffles. Elsewhere in the UK saw bigger riots, but hopefully the much-needed increased police presence will help things settle down.

  3. I'm so happy to hear that you guys are safe and well. So sad that such a great neighborhood was targeted by senseless people. The pictures of Northcote St in disarray are heartbreaking but hopefully things will get back to normal quickly for you and your friends. If you need Kate and I to come back and do some shopping and eating to get the economy back to normal just let us know :-)

    Talk soon
